"Who say in pride and arrogance of heart: “The bricks have
fallen down, but we will rebuild with hewn stones; The sycamores are cut down,
but we will replace them with cedars.” Therefore the Lord shall set up the
adversaries of Rezin against him, and spur his enemies on." (Isaiah 9:10-11)
There's no question that The United States of America was founded on godly motives, and on Biblical principles, by a core of godly men. And since that strong foundation and beginning, we have enjoyed liberty and God's favor and blessing in America; going on to become the most powerful and prosperous nation on earth.
However, the question people don't seem to be asking today, but should be asking, is—why is God's hand of protection and provision, which America has so long enjoyed, now seem to be in the process of being removed?
Why would God allow our security to be breached and thousands of our citizens to be murdered on 9/11 in 2001, when Islamic radicals crashed jet airliners into both of the World Trade Center towers, reducing them to piles of rubble, twisted steel and ash?
Why would God allow the economy of the most blessed and prosperous nation on earth to crumble, setting off a global financial crisis, the likes of which have never before been seen?
Why would God allow the rights of America's free citizens to be challenged and threatened by an ungodly regime?
The answer may well be revealed in historical events that unfolded over 2,500 years ago in the Middle East.
The northern kingdom of Israel was a special people; a nation chosen and established by God for His purposes. But they had turned their backs on God and His ways, and the people were worshiping other gods, slipping deeper into sexual immorality and idolatry, pushing God out of every aspect of their society and culture.
Through the Jewish Prophet Isaiah, God issued several warnings for His people Israel to repent—to turn their hearts back to Him. But they continued to harden their hearts further against God, ignoring the repeated warnings of His judgment that would certainly come upon them, if they refused to turn back to Him. (Read Isaiah chapters 7, 8, 9).
Ultimately, God used the Assyrians—the founders of terrorism, and Israel's most feared enemy, to bring His judgment upon rebellious Israel, after they ignored warning after warning from God to repent and turn their hearts back to Him.
Israel proclaimed their spirit of defiance against God, saying:
“The bricks have fallen down, but we will rebuild with hewn stones; The sycamores are cut down, but we will replace them with cedars.” (Isaiah 9:10)
Instead of humbling themselves and turning back to Him, God's people were basically saying; 'We will not repent and turn back to You! But in our own strength, and with our own resources, we will rebuild our walls and city bigger and stronger than before!'
It was an act of arrogant defiance against God.
And the cause-and-effect of their open rebellion against The LORD, was to bring His judgment against them:
The Isaiah 9/11 Effect.
Therefore the Lord shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and spur his enemies on." (Isaiah 9:11)
The ancient nation of Israel and the modern nation of America are strikingly similar.
We both had a great beginning, enjoying special blessing and favor from God.
And we both have progressively turned away from God, even after being warned to repent and turn our hearts back to Him.
And just as God removed His hand of provision and protection off of His people Israel, so too, is God beginning to remove His hand of provision and protection off of the United States of America.
God used and allowed the terrorizing enemies of Israel—the Assyrians—to execute His judgment on a rebellious and hard-hearted people In Isaiah's day, some 2,500 years ago.
And on 9/11/2001, God allowed Islamic terrorists to breach our national walls of security, by removing His hand of protection on that day.
Like ancient Israel did, America has continued to drive God out of every arena of public life.
Prayer in schools was outlawed in 1963. Abortion was made legal in 1973. The Ten Commandments have been removed from virtually every public monument possible. Sexual behaviors and lifestyles which were once viewed by the majority as immoral and ungodly, are now displayed and embraced everywhere as 'good' and acceptable. America is the pornography center of the world. And speaking God's Word in this nation is now seen by the cultural majority as 'evil.'
It appears that our nation is no longer, "One nation under God."
The day after 9/11, Americans in record numbers flocked to churches, seeking God, trying to make sense of the massive tragedy that had just befallen our citizens on American soil.
But very soon after that, most people went right back to living, "business-as-usual." Things improved, and people no longer were desperate to seek God.
9/11 was a warning... beckoning us... "Repent, and return to the Lord."
The growing global economic crises is a warning... "Repent, and return to the Lord."
Would you believe me if I told you that, after 9/11, several American politicians spoke the exact words about rebuilding and replanting, that the ancient Israelite's defiantly did, 2,500 years ago?
“The bricks have fallen down, but we will rebuild with hewn stones; The sycamores are cut down, but we will replace them with cedars.”
Please, take the time to watch the following thought-provoking video:

*NOTE: I am not seeking to promote the video and book titled, "The Harbinger" as a specific "prophecy" to America. However, I do believe that America is spiritually following the same rebellious and idolatrous patterns that Ancient Israel did. So, our need to repent and turn to God is just as relevant and urgent as theirs was.
In my strong opinion, it is high time for a wake up call for America to turn to God.
“If My people who are called by My name will humble
themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I
will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2
Chronicles 7:14)
This is not a message of fear, nor one of gloom and doom. This is a message of divine Love. For although God sent His rebellious people Israel multiple warnings of the coming judgment if they refused to turn back to Him, the Word says,
"And for all this, His hand is outstretched still."

To all who come to Jesus Christ, He will in no way cast out.
“Come, and let us return to the Lord;
For He has torn, but He will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind us up.”
(Hosea 6:1)

What about the gospel of the Kingdom of Heaven?
ReplyDeleteIf regenerate believers in Messiah / King Jesus are seeking first the kingdom of heaven and His righteousness, then why do the citizens of the kingdom look so much like the citizens of this present evil age? Not only in the United States of America, but also in so many Western nations? Should our concern be focused on America's repentance, or our own? Why are believers so distracted by Cahn and his book and not intently focused on God's word and how it should be applied to our individual, personal lives? Not for "the abundant life" in that crass materialistic sense, but rather for holiness and righteousness and sanctification. Cahn and his book are distractions. Distractions are tools of the enemy.
Look at the household of God. There are many who claim to be Christian yet they are hardly distinguishable from the citizens of this present evil age. The temple is in need of repair. While we think about America's Christian heritage and how far we've wandered from it, we have lost sight of God's providence for His church in preserving an entire hemisphere for them to come to in order to escape the self-destructive violence that soaked the nations of Europe for hundreds of years in the name of Messiah Jesus. The church is God's focus. The United States of America is not the church. The church flourished here for a while according to God's decree. But God isn't in heaven waving an American flag or being overwrought by the depravity of this nation ... only. God is grieved by the worldliness of His people, the body of His beloved and only begotten Son, the church.
The church looks too much like the citizens and systems of this present evil age. May God have mercy on us all. Thy kingdom come.
Sometimes I wonder if people even bother to read my entire posts at all.
ReplyDeleteDid I ever state that "America is the church?" No. But God has obviously bestowed much favor and protection on the USA over the centuries. But He is calling our nation, and all nations, to repent and turn to God. That was the intent of my post. And as I said originally:
